Thankful for Today
Last night an explosion ripped through a stadium where people were watching the World Cup in Kampala, Uganda. An American staff member for Invisible Children was killed in the blasts.
Although we didn’t know him, our hearts are heavy today. As Americans living and working in Africa, this hit awfully close to home. Here are some of my not-very-polished thoughts of the day.
This is a reminder that tomorrow’s not promised to any of us. It makes me want to be less flippant with the moments of today.
I’m thankful for your prayers, more than you’ll ever know. I’m so incredibly grateful that I know at certain times of everyday there are people interceeding on our behalf.
No doubt that living here some days is difficult, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to live in Africa. Especially on days like today, I know without a doubt that God has us here for a reason. That when the going gets tough–and sometimes it does, that we can stand on His promises.
Thankful for Today,

Katie, I’m so glad I discovered your website! And, I’m excited to keep up with your life in Africa! Did I tell you that my husband and I want to come there someday? After he is done with school, we would love to come and do medical missions for a while but we just keep trusting God step by step so we shall see what our future holds! I will keep you guys in my prayers as I know that marriage AND ministry can be hard but so rewarding!!
And, thank you for the reminder that tomorrow is not promised to us…I’ve been reminded of that a few times this week and I pray I would not let life just slip by.
